9 Ways To Write Simple Emails That Subscribers Will Want To Read

Email Marketing doesn’t need to be as hard as people make it out to be. In fact, a well-written and plain-looking email is capable of getting even better results than a fancy, well-designed email.

We believe that simpler is better when it comes to writing emails. Because even if your emails look amazing, if they don’t contain the right content, then people will stop opening them.

This isn’t good because email marketing helps to build relationships with current customers and future customers.

So, to help you with email marketing, here are 9 ways to write simple emails that subscribers will want to read!

1) Create A Wave Structure

For the structure of your email, it helps to create a wave shape. This makes the email easier to read because it is broken up.

Here is an example of a wave structure:

Wave structure email example

Just as shown in the image above, you want to follow the order of having short sentences, medium sentences, long sentences, and then repeat to create a wave.

Of course, it doesn’t have to be exactly in that order, and you don’t have to follow it perfectly, but it is something to keep in mind when writing emails.

Not everyone follows this structure when writing emails, but we have found that it’s what converts best for us.

2) Write Eye-Catching Subject Lines

Subject lines can be hard, and it will take time to get better at them.

But you must keep in mind that the subject line is the first thing they see and it can make someone choose to open or not open your email.

And to help, there are different techniques that you can use to help get your emails opened and catch readers’ attention.

So, check our blog post that shares 7 tips for writing email subject lines that get opened by clicking here!

3) Use Dynamic Texts

Dynamic Text is when you bold, italics, underline or capitalize, certain words and sentences that you want to stand out.

It also is a technique to help break up the words and to draw in people’s attention to what you want them to focus on when reading the email.

Using dynamic texts makes it easier for people to skim the email. You want to be putting attention on words that would make it easy for people to understand if they were to only read the dynamic text.

4) Use Psychology

A great way to get people to take action in your emails is by using psychology tactics to create a sense of scarcity and urgency in your emails.

You can do this by utilizing FOMO, which stands for Fear Of Missing Out. It is a psychological trigger that makes people take action because they don’t want to miss out on anything.

An example of FOMO is using tactics like limited-time only, act now, and only 5 spots left.

They work well because they put pressure on people to act now, otherwise, they won’t have a chance to get it ever again.

So make sure to utilize FOMO in your email writing to get people to take the desired action.

5) Be Personable When Possible

When sending out emails, it’s important to make it as personal as you can,  so that the email feels like it’s just for them.

And one way that you can do this is by including the receivers name in the email. By having the recipient’s name in the subject lines, headers, and text to make the email feel more personal.

Another way to personalize your emails is to segment your list. This helps to make sure the messaging of your emails is relevant and tailored to where they are in the customer journey

For example, you could segment your email lists based on if they have purchased or not purchased.

Therefore, you can work on getting those who haven’t purchased yet, to purchase.

And those who have purchased, you can continue to develop a relationship with them to get them to eventually purchase from you again in the future.

6) Use Bullet Points And Lists

Using bullet points and lists in your emails makes things easier and more clear for people to read.

It is a very useful technique to use if there are multiple actions you want the reader to take in an email, or if there are certain steps they need to take.

because it lets readers know exactly what action you want them to take and in what order.

7) Know Your Goal

Before you even start writing your emails, you need to keep in mind the main goal of why you are sending out the email.

Take a few minutes to decide on the purpose of the email, the messaging, and what you want the outcome to be.

This will make writing the email a whole lot faster if you have these answered already before writing.

And it will help you to better achieve the desired results that you want from the email you are sending because you have a clear understanding of the goal

8) Use Hyperlinks With Call-To-Actions

A useful tip is to directly use hyperlinks in texts with call-to-auctions. This way, the reader can just click on where you want them to go next.

Here is an example of a hyperlink in an email with a call-to-action:

Hyperlink CTA email example

As you can see from the image above, the call-to-action stands out and is clear, so the recipient understands exactly where you want them to click and why.

9) Write-In Conversational Tone

When writing emails, remember that you aren’t writing an essay or an article. You want it to sound natural, and like you are having a conversation with a friend.

This can be hard to get into the habit of doing, but always try to keep things simple.

The tone of the email should be casual and easy to understand. You want to stay away from using big words that people commonly don’t use when they are talking to each other.

The more authentic your emails are, the more people will enjoy reading them.

Growing Your Email List

Okay, so now that you’ve learned how to write emails, you need to grow an email list, so that you have people to send emails to.

And the easiest way that you can do that is by using Facebook Lead Ads or Google Lead Forms.

Facebook Lead Ads allows you to easily collect new email subscribers through a form that pops-up, and is already pre-filled with their information all within the Facebook platform.

It’s a very convenient option because it requires no landing page for you to collect emails, so you don’t have to worry about designing or creating additional websites.

Google Lead Forms lets you collect emails through search ads on mobile devices. There is a form on the ad for the person to quickly and easily submit their information to you.

And if you want to learn how to set-up your own Facebook Lead Ads, click here to read our blog that gives a full walkthrough.

There is also a blog for Google Lead Forms that shares step-by-step how to set-up your first Google Lead Form, click here to go read it now.

But the only problem is that although Facebook Lead Ads and Google Lead Forms are great methods for collecting emails, they have a problem…

There is no automated way for you to send an email to your newly collected email list.

If you want to retrieve the emails you’ve collected through Facebook or Google, you have to find the button to do so and manually export them yourself.

And then you also have to go through the trouble of uploading them to your Email Service Provider (ESP), which would all be a very time-consuming and tedious process.

But with LeadsTunnel, you don’t have to worry about any of that!

What Is LeadsTunnel?

LeadsTunnel is software that ‘tunnels’ your new email subscribers into your pre-existing ESP, it sends all the collected information from Facebook Lead Ads And Google Lead Forms into your provider.
